The only reason a patio is a must for you is because it’s the perfect place to unwind!
According to IKEA’s fifth annual Life at Home Report, a lot of people don’t feel at home in their own homes. “In the past two years, there has been an increase in the number of people who say they feel more at home in places other than the space they live in,” the study reported. The 2018 results revealed that 35 percent of people feel more at home outside of where they actually reside. That’s sad. Very sad.
People don’t feel in control of how they disconnect and recharge after work. And with people working now more than ever, your home needs to a place where you can unwind, relax, and find relief. Watching TV, browsing the internet or going directly to sleep isn’t how everyone wants to unwind–which is why I’m suggesting a patio!
Imagine this. Let’s say it’s the spring or summer. The weather is a warm 75 degrees and you’ve just arrived home from a rough day at work. It happens to all of us. Maybe today your boss is really asking a lot of you right now, and you feel overwhelmed by it. Now, instead of coming in and plopping onto your couch you see your attractive patio staring at you through the kitchen window. Let’s imagine its a wide stone patio–kind of like the one below.
Maybe it has a grill, a fireplace, and cushy sofas and chairs. All of which are begging for you to rest your tired feet on top of them. This is how you should be unwinding after a long day. And it only gets better! Let me explain.
To your joy, your spouse has decided to cook burgers–but not inside like usual, today you’re eating outside on the new patio. Now the two of you chat and devour some juicy burgers, and crack open that red-wine that you’ve been meaning to try for some time now. It’s moments like this where you completely forget about the feelings of being overwhelmed and worried and are at ease. It’s moments like these where you feel at home.
A patio can be looked at as an extra dining space. An extra kitchen. An extra living room. An outside playroom. For all these reasons, this is why adding a patio is a must. Doing something to add to your happiness is always worth it. Don’t you agree?
