1. A patio adds value to your home.
Let’s start with increasing your home’s worth. Now, I know you might be questioning whether a patio will add value to your home, and I assure you that done right it will make your home more marketable in the long run. The reason, which we’ll elaborate on in a minute, is because it extends the living space of your home. You have to do a few things right when adding a patio, though.

Consider the size of your yard. You don’t want to build a patio so large that there isn’t green space remaining. Sure, I know that mowing that lawn is tedious and it’s tempting to pave the whole thing over. But, if there’s no green space to enjoy, potential homebuyers will be less likely to consider it. People like to garden, give their children space to play, or their pets space to roam. So don’t make the mistake of having a patio that’s too large.

Also, consider the design of your house. Is it more modern or traditional, contemporary or ranch-style? When adding a patio or any outdoor living space, you want the design to blend with the style of your home. Let’s say your home is a traditional design, but the patio you add is ultra-modern and sleek. It will look out of place and be off-putting. You can still have a fire pit and a stone enclosure while respecting the design of your property. If your taste is more modern, add those touches in a non-permanent way–think about your furniture or other accessories. Your choice of building material will have a lot to do with this, and guidance from a professional helps in making the right decision.
2. A patio is excellent for kids

An outdoor space, such as a patio gives your children an outdoor area where they can be kids without you worrying about making a mess. And it’s so easy to keep an eye on them. You can bring dinner outside and just rinse off any spills with a hose. And think of how much fun your kids can have roasting marshmallows over a built-in fire pit!
3. A patio will inspire entertaining

IIf your house ever feels “normal”, best believe it won’t feel so normal once your loved ones, friends, and parents of your children’s friends hear about your patio. They’ll be inviting themselves over to get away from their boring homes. Trust me!
